Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Fundamentals)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a very popular and effective martial art that uses ground fighting techniques and submission holds involving joint locks and chokes. The effectiveness of BJJ has been proven time and again at mixed martial arts events such as the UFC.
Fundamental BJJ emphasizes the basic positions, submissions, guard passes and sweeps. Once the student achieves a strong foundation, he or she can begin attending intermediate/advanced classes.
A normal class begins with a short warm-up. After that, we work on a few solo drills that help with movement and positioning on the ground. Once adequately warmed up, the instructor will introduce new technique(s) that you will drill with a partner. Beginning students are welcome to attend sparring classes following the intermediate/advanced class.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Intermediate/Advanced)
This class is reserved for students with at least 3-4 months of experience in the Fundamentals Class. The format of this class is similar to the Fundamentals class, but the techniques are more advanced.
Children's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Based in traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, our program is focused on teaching the children discipline, self-confidence, focus, respect and the skills necessary to safely and effectively defend themselves against larger, stronger opponents (while they have a lot of fun and get great exercise).
Submission Grappling/Ground MMA
Submission grappling is essentially BJJ without the gi. You will learn how to effectively fight on the ground using positions and submissions developed to be used without the use of a gi. Some classes will involve the use of strikes and strike defense while on the ground. All levels are welcome at this class.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Submission Grappling (Competition Training)
Although not limited to those who are competing, this class is structured to prepare students for competition. This class will involve more structured sparring and drilling designed specifically to ensure students are ready for tournament-style Jiu-Jitsu.
